SSB can be used to receive a wealth of weather and safety information, and to participate in the many cruising nets that operate around the world. The Icom M802 we feature has Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capability, which can be a lifesaver if the need arises to summon help in an emergency. Coupled with a Pactor modem, SSB can also be used for basic email or to download weather information on demand.

There is a slight learning curve associated with SSB - so we offer a Mastering Marine SSB half-day training session that will get you up to speed and operating with confidence.

Here in the USA, SSB transceivers operated aboard a vessel require a license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). We're well-versed in the process, and for a flat fee we'll process all the necessary paperwork and secure your license for you - usually in just about 24 hours. Please contact us directly to take advantage of this convenient service.
Icom M802 Marine Single Sideband Transceiver

Icom's digital SSB with remote control head offers the clearest reception ever.

Big dials, a large dot-matrix LCD and well spaced buttons make Icom's newest SSB a snap to operate, even in rough seas. A full key pad, over 1300 channels, wide band RX, Ham band TX (license required) and RX included, one-touch e-mail access (a SSB first!) with no optional filters required, front panel headset jack (to keep from waking up the crew), and many more thoughtful features make this remoteable control head SSB Icom's most advanced ever.

Note: for a proper installation, this radio requires a second, receive-only antenna to receive DSC hails and acknowledgements (below).
